Good Morning, Neighbors! 👋

I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July. I’m back and refreshed from a few days in Avalon, just in time for a rainy week. But a little rain can't overshadow the fun and important things happening, starting with a very special welcome in our community today.

Before we dive in, just a few reminders:

I’m just about finished curating the Preschool and Daycare Guide. Make sure yours is in there by filling out this FORM.
If you have a fundraiser for something or someone in the Upper Merion Area community, please let me know. It’s the most important thing I can share.
If you have an event, it is free to put on our local events calendar, which has several hundred daily visitors. You can do so HERE.

HAPPENING TODAY | THE WALL THAT HEALS

Today, our community will welcome "The Wall That Heals," a traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. A ceremonial escort will travel through Upper Merion, with a dedicated viewing area at the casino, to honor its arrival. This moving procession is a powerful tribute to our nation's heroes. See the map below for the route and find a spot to show your respect.

LOOKING TO SUPPORT OUR STUDENT ATHLETES?

Here are two fantastic opportunities to get your car washed while supporting our student athletes!

First, you can help the Upper Merion Football team tackle their fundraising goals. They’ll be washing cars tomorrow at Functional Strength in Bridgeport to raise money for their program, so you can get a great shine while helping them on the gridiron.

Then, make a splash for the Stingrays Swim Team at their car wash fundraiser on July 20th in the Upper Merion Community Pool parking lot.

Your car will thank you, and so will our hardworking student athletes!

A FEW MORE LOCAL EVENTS AND HAPPENINGS

Looking for free family fun? Head to Jenkins Arboretum for their Sidewalk Chalk Walk this Tuesday, July 8th, from 9:30 AM to noon. Create nature-inspired art along the garden paths. Chalk is provided, so just bring your creativity.

Go check out a night of genre-bending bluegrass and jamgrass! Leftover Salmon, The Infamous Stringdusters, and Kitchen Dwellers are bringing their incredible musicianship to the "Concerts Under The Stars" series in King of Prussia on Wednesday, July 9th.

Experience Broadway with a twist at Miscast Madness! On Friday, July 11th, talented performers defy typecasting to sing songs from their dream roles. Get ready for a delightful night of unexpected, rule-breaking musical numbers you have to see to believe.

SUZY-JO DONUTS

This week’s Local Gem is a place I drive past every day, but it wasn't until recently I learned its cool story. As a dad of two girls, it resonated deeply to learn Suzy Jo Donuts was named after the founders' daughters, Suzanne and Joanne. That Bridgeport location is the heart of the operation; it's where all the baking is done for their two satellite shops. And now, there's another reason to stop: they're serving a popular new iced coffee. So next time you're nearby, pop in before their new 1 PM closing time for a true local treasure.

A simple sticker can legally stop commercial solicitors from knocking on your door? It's true! Upper Merion Township provides free "No Soliciting" stickers to residents. You can pick one up at the Police Department. Just affix it to your door to keep your home knock-free this summer. 🤯
