Joe Calfapietra has managed professional baseball teams to multiple championships, earned Manager of the Year honors, and accumulated more than 1,300 career victories.
But his baseball career isn't just about winning championships.
For more than 30 years, Calfapietra has also worked with young athletes, teaching the fundamentals of baseball to players ranging from six years old through the collegiate level.
Today, he's bringing that experience to the Upper Merion Area, where his baseball training program offers individual instruction, player development programs, and facility rental opportunities for local teams and organizations.

Joe Calfapietra celebrates a 2026 Kansas City Monarchs championship with a little help from a local business, Collegeville Italian Bakery.
A Career Spent Teaching the Game
Calfapietra began providing baseball instruction through summer camps and private lessons in 1994, developing a teaching career that has continued alongside his work in professional baseball.
His background includes coaching at two Philadelphia-area universities.
In 1993, he served as an assistant coach at Saint Joseph's University. From 1995 through 2000, he was associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Villanova University, helping recruit and develop collegiate baseball players.
He also earned a master's degree in education from Eastern College.
That combination of teaching experience and baseball knowledge is something Calfapietra brings to his work with young athletes today.
While his professional accomplishments provide an impressive résumé, his instruction isn't limited to advanced or highly competitive players. He also enjoys working with younger children who are still learning the game.
Championship Experience
Calfapietra's professional managing career spans more than two decades and includes several championship seasons.
He managed the New Jersey Jackals from 2003 through 2016, winning a championship in 2004 and guiding the organization to five consecutive league championship series appearances from 2011 through 2015.
He then managed the Kansas City T-Bones from 2017 through 2019, leading the club to the 2018 American Association championship and earning the league's Manager of the Year award.
Since 2021, Calfapietra has managed the Kansas City Monarchs, winning championships in 2021, 2023, and 2026. He also received American Association Manager of the Year honors in 2021.
In 2026, he reached his 26th season as a professional baseball manager, having recorded more than 1,300 managerial victories, including leading his KC Monarchs to this year’s Miles Wolff Cup Championship, where they swept the Milwaukee Milkmen to be crowned 2026 champions.
Andrew Huebner: Another Key Part of the Program
Calfapietra isn't the only experienced baseball instructor working with local athletes.
Andrew Huebner, a North Penn High School graduate and former professional baseball signee, plays an important role in the program, conducting many of its lessons and overseeing its elite baseball teams.
Huebner enjoyed a successful collegiate career as a pitcher at Wagner College, where he established a school record with 25 career saves. During his senior season in 2009, he recorded 13 saves and helped Wagner capture its first Northeast Conference regular-season baseball championship.
Following his collegiate career, Huebner signed a free-agent contract with the Baltimore Orioles organization.
Today, he brings that playing experience to his work developing young athletes, leading the program's elite baseball teams and providing instruction to local players.
While Calfapietra remains available for lessons, Huebner is an integral part of the program's day-to-day instruction and player development.
