Five Fascinating Facts About West Conshohocken

🏭 Industrial Beginnings:
In the 19th century, West Conshohocken developed as a key industrial hub, leveraging its location along the Schuylkill River for industries like iron, steel, and textiles.

🏙️ Separation from Conshohocken:
Incorporated as a separate borough in 1874, West Conshohocken distinguished itself from its larger neighbor across the river, Conshohocken.

🚂 Railroad Transformation:
The arrival of the railroad in the mid-19th century significantly boosted West Conshohocken’s economy, turning it into a key transportation hub for goods and workers.

🌉 Bridges Over the Schuylkill:
The Matsonford Bridge, originally built in the 1800s and later replaced, became a critical link connecting West Conshohocken to Conshohocken, facilitating commerce and trade.

🔄 Decline and Revival:
Like many industrial towns, West Conshohocken faced economic challenges in the mid-20th century, but saw a revival in the 1990s with the rise of corporate offices and redevelopment. Today, it is known for its modern business parks and office buildings, contrasting with its industrial roots.
