Wildfire Concerns Prompt 30-Day Ban on Open Fires in Montgomery County
Montgomery County will enact a 30-day burn ban starting Saturday at noon due to severe drought conditions and a rising risk of wildfires. The ban prohibits open fires, with exceptions for stoves, grills, and small contained flames. Violators face fines up to $300. Over 300 vegetation fires have already been reported since September, prompting urgent action by officials.
King of Prussia Named Best U.S. Mall for Holiday Shopping in New Study

A new study ranks the 20 largest U.S. malls for holiday shopping based on size, stores, parking, Instagram popularity, and Google ratings. Pennsylvaniaβs King of Prussia Mall topped the list with a perfect score, followed by The Galleria in Texas and Minnesotaβs Mall of America. Other highly ranked malls include American Dream Meadowlands in New Jersey and Hawaiiβs Ala Moana Center, recognized for their amenities and holiday appeal.
Norristown Woman to Serve Jail Time for Aiding Homicide Suspect, Lying to Jury

A Norristown woman was sentenced to 9 to 23 months in jail for helping her boyfriend evade police after he was involved in a homicide on the Schuylkill River Trail. Hailey Covelens lied to a grand jury and assisted in the cover-up, providing shelter and resources for her boyfriend and his accomplice. The court emphasized the importance of truth in judicial proceedings, rejecting her request for probation and mandating strict terms of supervision.
