Welcome to Our Lifestyle Section!
Each week, I’ll dish out a variety of Upper Merion lifestyle vibes in hopes of sparking some inspiration for your next local mini-adventure, or perhaps even helping you find your people. With the help of the King of Prussia Historical Society, we’ll also occasionally celebrate and remember what King of Prussia once was, honoring its roots as we explore today. I’m hopeful some of these shares are helpful, and enjoyable to you. Enjoy!
KING OF PRUSSIA HISTORICAL SOCIETY’S
“Did You Know”?

King of Prussia, Pennsylvania gets its name from a tavern - not a king directly. Back in the 18th century, there was a popular inn called the King of Prussia Inn, named in honor of King Frederick the Great of Prussia (1712–1786). The tavern became such a well-known landmark that the entire surrounding area eventually took its name from it.
The original King of Prussia Inn still exists today - it was even relocated back in 2000 to save it from demolition during the Route 202 highway expansion! The Inn now sits on Bill Smith Boulevard and is also the current home of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.

When YOU need to Buy or Sell - Allow Us To Help You! 🏚
Choosing THE RIGHT Realtor:
Lets face the facts: there are A LOT of REALTORS® out there…BUT only the really good ones continue to thrive no matter what the current housing market may be doing. So...how do you know who to hire to help you?
Here are the key things YOU should be aware of:
Experience and Track Record:
How long have they been in the business? How many transactions do they close each year? Look for someone who knows the market and has a strong history of success.
Local Knowledge:
A good REALTOR® should know the neighborhoods, schools, zoning laws, and market trends specific to the area you're interested in.
Communication Style:
Are they responsive? Do they listen to your needs? You want someone who keeps you informed and makes you feel comfortable.
Credentials and Affiliations:
Being a REALTOR® means they are a member of the National Association of REALTORS® and follow a strict Code of Ethics — but check if they have additional certifications (like CRS, ABR, or SRES), which show extra commitment and expertise.
Marketing Strategy (for sellers):
Ask how they plan to market your home. Professional photography, online listings, open houses, and social media are all important.
Negotiation Skills:
Real estate is about more than showing homes — it's about negotiating deals. You want someone who can advocate strongly on your behalf.
References and Reviews:
Past client reviews or word-of-mouth recommendations are very telling. Don’t be afraid to ask for references.
Personality Fit:
You’ll be working closely with your REALTOR®, sometimes for months. You want someone you trust, like, and respect.
Are You:
🤔 Curious about real-time market activity in your neighborhood?
💰 Looking to find out your home’s value in minutes?
📋 Interested in viewing all active and coming soon listings?
🏠 Looking to help someone buy or sell a home in Upper Merion?
![]() | If you’ve answered YES to any of the above…contact The Brenda and Mark Shepperd Real Estate Team of Long & Foster, in Devon, PA. They not only live, work and play in UM - they’ve been helping your neighbors buy and sell homes in Upper Merion for 25+ years. |
