Upper Merion’s Environmental Advisory Council is scheduled to discuss several possible township code changes when it meets Tuesday night.

Section 2 of the agenda, titled “Code Reform,” includes parking reform, AI data centers, new construction and reconstruction requirements, a possible gas leaf blower ban, a naturalized landscape ordinance, balcony solar and possible new rules related to cutting down trees. The construction topics include electrification, along with EV-ready and solar-ready infrastructure.

Data centers also appear elsewhere on the agenda. Under “Updates/Recaps/Hot topics,” the EAC is scheduled to discuss model ordinances from the Montgomery County Planning Commission and the SEPA-Sierra Club.

The agenda does not provide details about how far along any of these ideas may be. It does not include draft ordinance language, identify a scheduled vote or explain what the next step could be. At this point, the items are listed under reports and discussions.

The EAC meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Upper Merion Township Building, located at 175 W. Valley Forge Road in King of Prussia. Virtual participation is also available, and public comment is scheduled before adjournment.
