It was the Goodwill Donation Drive. This area is full of folks who care and just want to help. Don’t let anyone tell you different 😉
Possible Closure of Bridgeport District Courthouse
I learned through an article online last week about the potential closing of Bridgeport’s only district courthouse. The following is a statement from the Bridgeport Business Association regarding the potential closing:
“The Bridgeport District Courthouse consistently draws a diverse group of people, including lawyers, litigants, and witnesses, who contribute to the local economy by patronizing businesses in the area. The potential closure of the courthouse would undoubtedly have a severe negative impact on our small businesses, particularly restaurants, coffee shops, and retail stores located nearby.
Maintaining the courthouse in Bridgeport is vital for the economic health of these businesses and the vibrancy of our community.
The Bridgeport Business Association & the entire community of Bridgeport are in sincere appreciation to our elected leaders, Representative Tim Briggs & Senator Amanda Cappeletti for all their efforts.”
If you’d like to read the Borough’s letter opposing it’s closure, you can do so HERE. There is also a petition circulating opposing the courthouse’s closure. It currently has over 500 signatures. CLICK HERE if you’d like to add your name to the petition.
Thursday Marks 24th Anniversary of 9/11
This Thursday, September 11, 2025, marks the solemn occasion of the 24th anniversary of the tragic terrorist attacks that shook our nation. On this day, we honor and remember the nearly 3,000 victims who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The National September 11 Memorial & Museum will hold its annual commemoration ceremony to pay tribute to those who perished and to reflect on the impact of these events.
September 11 is designated as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. This is a time for Americans to come together in unity and reflection. Throughout the day, there are several meaningful ways you can get involved:
Digital Learning Experiences: Educational programs will be available for students to engage with stories from survivors and learn about resilience in times of crisis. You can find details HERE!
#RememberTheSky Tribute: Join a collective social media tribute by sharing a photo of the sky using hashtags #RememberTheSky and #NeverForget911. This initiative aims to create a visual memorial that connects people across communities.
Moments of Silence: Participate in moments of silence at key times throughout the day: 8:46 a.m., marking when Flight 11 struck the North Tower; 9:03 a.m., when Flight 175 hit the South Tower; at 9:37 a.m., when Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon; and finally at 10:28 a.m., when the North Tower fell. These pauses allow us all to reflect on what was lost and honor those who were taken from us.
As we gather in remembrance, let us not only reflect on that fateful day but also commit ourselves to acts of service within our communities. Together, we can ensure that we never forget. The George Clay Fire Company and Washington’s Memorial Chapel will be holding services on Thursday.

PET OF THE WEEK 🐾
Meet Tawny!

Tawny is a 7-year-old terrier mix who was rescued by Senior Dog Haven & Hospice after being abandoned. Tawny adores people, food, and outdoor adventures. She has a cute little hop from mobility issues (no surgery needed) and wears diapers indoors (which doesn’t bother her). She’s making great progress with training and has been learning leash manners, waiting for mealtime commands, and working on mild separation anxiety. She may whine briefly when left alone but isn’t destructive and loves toy distractions. A fenced yard or regular walks would be ideal. Due to her ongoing training needs, we do feel it would be best for Tawny to be the only animal in the home. After all she missed out on, it’s only fair that she gets all the attention! Learn more about adopting Tawny at www.seniordoghaven.org
