š Meet Upper Merion Area School Districtās Newest School Board Director

Nikki Sallustio
The Upper Merion Area School Board has appointed Nikki Sallustio to fill the at-large seat left vacant following the resignation of longtime board member Eric Wellington, who served the district for 14 years. Nikki will serve through the end of the 2027.
For Nikki, this appointment is the continuation of years of community involvementānot the beginning of it.
She has previously run for the school board, applied for vacant board seats, regularly attended school board meetings, and even runs a social media page dedicated to helping keep residents informed about school district matters. That history, she says, comes from a genuine desire to serve the community, promote greater transparency, and bring diverse perspectives to board discussions.
As she steps into the role, Nikki says she's looking forward to learning the ins and outs of serving on the board while remaining accessible to the people she represents. She hopes to encourage more residents to participate in school board meetings and plans to make herself available for conversations with community members outside of those meetings as well.
When I asked what message she most wanted readers to hear, her answer was simple:
She wants to hear from you.
Whether it's by email, phone, or attending a board meeting, Nikki says she takes seriously her responsibility to represent the district's stakeholders and wants residents to know their voices matter.

A large crowd is expected for Wednesday night's Planning Commission meeting, where the proposed data center project is expected to be discussed. Because of the anticipated attendance, the meeting has been moved to the Upper Merion Area Middle School Auditorium. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
If you're just beginning to follow the discussion, the Upper Merion Board of Supervisors published an official statement on June 23 outlining its position on the proposed project. It's a helpful read if you're looking for background before the meeting. You can find it here.
