🌎 Share Your Culture at the Upper Merion Township Library

The Upper Merion Township Library is looking for volunteers to help make its "Around the World in 80 Minutes" cultural fair a success. Community members are invited to share their family's heritage, traditions, and customs with local children during the event on Monday, August 3, at 6 p.m.

So far, volunteers have signed up to represent Mexico, Hungary, South Africa, Nepal, India, the Dominican Republic, and Ukraine, with room for many more countries and cultures. It's a unique opportunity to celebrate the diversity of our community while giving kids a chance to explore the world—without ever leaving Upper Merion. Register here.

🍺 Bald Birds Brewing to Close King of Prussia Location

Bald Birds Brewing announced it will close its King of Prussia location at 250 King Manor Drive on July 31. The brewery, which took over the former Workhorse Brewing facility earlier this year, said the space wasn't the right fit for its long-term manufacturing goals. Bald Birds will continue operating its Audubon and Jersey Shore locations while focusing on production and future growth.

🛴 What Are Pennsylvania's Rules for Electric Scooters?

Electric scooters and other micromobility devices have become a frequent topic of conversation in the Upper Merion area, with residents asking where they're allowed to ride and what's legal under Pennsylvania law. After seeing several recent discussions in local community groups, I thought it would be helpful to share PennDOT's current guidance.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, electric scooters cannot legally be operated on public roadways and are limited to private property under current state law.

The PennDOT fact sheet also outlines the rules for other devices, including e-bikes, bicycles, Segways, motor scooters, and motorized pedalcycles. For example, e-bikes are permitted on roadways and bike lanes and may use sidewalks outside of business districts, while bicycles are generally allowed on roads, bike lanes, and sidewalks outside business districts.

Because different devices fall under different legal definitions, PennDOT encourages riders to understand the rules that apply to the type of vehicle they're using before heading out
