šŸ’”In The Spotlight

šŸ‘® An independent look at the work recorded by Upper Merion Police.

Upper Merion police officers respond to far more than reported crimes, but residents currently have little access to an organized monthly breakdown of that activity.

Using records obtained through Pennsylvania’s Right-to-Know process, Upper Merion Area Spotlight reviewed thousands of police activity entries from June and July and grouped them into consistent categories.

Which responsibilities accounted for the largest share? How did activity change from one month to the next? And how much involved reported offenses and investigations?

Our first Police Activity report answers those questions and establishes the baseline for a recurring public data series.

After reading it, take the quick poll and tell us whether this type of information should be more readily available to the public.

šŸŽ¾ Update on Tennis Court Project Expected Tonight

Upper Merion residents waiting for news on the township’s tennis courts may get an update tonight.

A Tennis Court Project Update is included on the agenda for tonight’s Parks and Recreation Board meeting, with Parks & Recreation Director Dan Russell scheduled to provide the update.

The agenda doesn’t provide any additional details about what the update will include, so for now, we’ll have to wait and see.

The Parks and Recreation Board meets tonight at 7 p.m. at the Upper Merion Community Center. See the agenda.

šŸš” Bridgeport National Night Out is Tonight

Bridgeport’s National Night Out returns tonight, and there’s plenty planned for families.

Elmwood Park Zoo will be on hand, and kids can meet and take photos with Chase from PAW Patrol. The free event will also feature face painting, music, food, police vehicles, martial arts demonstrations, inflatable and interactive games, and more.

The event runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bridgeport Police Department, 65 W. Fourth Street.
