Upper Merion Area Spotlight | Wednesday, July 1st

A quick look at what's happening around Upper Merion today

☀️ Today’s Weather

Good morning, neighbors. 👋 July is coming in hot….literally!

Here are a few local things I didn’t want you to miss today.

💡In The Spotlight

🏘️ KOP Housing Market Stays Active

The local market is still moving. There are currently 325 active buyers generating nearly 1,900 buyer interactions, while 36 new listings hit the market this week at an average price of $641K. Meanwhile, 61 homes sold for an average of $487.9K.

What it likely means: Buyers are still out there, and homes are continuing to sell. The gap between list prices and sale prices also suggests shoppers are finding room to negotiate.

🚂 Making Plans for Big Boy 4014?

If you're planning to catch the Big Boy on Friday, there are a few spots getting in on the fun. The Depot Bar opens at 8 a.m. with beers and bagels, while Reach Climbing & Fitness is inviting spectators to bring a chair and enjoy free American flags. Also, over on 2nd & Depot, you'll find a reading of the Declaration of Independence, costume contests, stories, light refreshments, and more. How fortunate the our area to have a front row seat to such a cool event.

🥵 Norristown Cancels July 4 Parade Due to Heat

Norristown has canceled its Independence Day parade because of extreme heat. The Party in the Park will still begin at 3 p.m. as scheduled, with live entertainment, food vendors, family activities, and fireworks planned for later in the evening. Folks are taking this pretty serious, make sure you do as well.

You can read full details here.

Area Favorites

If you're looking for some live music tonight, you'll find it at Screwballs, The Ribby, or Gypsy Saloon, where it's also Italian Night. If you're heading out with the kids, they eat free at Peppers. And if you're feeling competitive, you can even squeeze in a round or two of trivia.

☝️ Before You Go…

Yesterday was National Social Media Day, and it sparked some fun conversations. Do you remember your very first social media platform?

The nostalgia was flowing yesterday. 😄

Thanks for spending a couple of minutes with me.
