👋Good Morning, Upper Merion!

Six more weeks of winter, blah, blah, blah. I suppose time will tell. Speaking of time, the two week wait for the Super Bowl is brutal when the team you root for is playing. Fortunately, there is plenty of super bowl related fun to have locally. Bob Kelly will be at 4th Street cafe in Bridgeport on Wednesday starting at 4 Am (yes, AM) and the “on the road to victory” bus will be stopping in Conshohocken Wednesday afternoon….and so much more.

I’m also excited to share the summer camp guide I’ve put together. If you’re trying to plan out the summer for the kids, and it includes camp, make sure to check it out. Just about ALL camp registrations are now open and early bird specials (if they have ended yet) are ending soon.

Ok, let’s get to it!

A Revolutionary Work of Art: The Story Behind Upper Merion’s Mural

Driving down Henderson Road, you might have noticed the striking Revolutionary War mural on the Colonial Electric Supply building. This powerful depiction of George Washington leading his troops through the snow is actually a local interpretation of the famous 1883 painting The March to Valley Forge by William B. T. Trego. Trego, an artist known for his military history paintings, overcame physical disabilities to create over 200 works. The mural itself was painted in 1976 by Upper Merion resident Ted Kunda to celebrate America’s Bicentennial. Stay tuned next week for more about Kunda and the mural’s unique history!

Thanks to LM Maggio for the fascinating story. To see the entire story, head on over to the KOP Historical Society’s Facebook Page.

Celebrating Cookie Season - And The Businesses Hosting Them

Cookie season is officially underway, and it’s always an exciting time for the community. A HUGE THANK YOU to the businesses hosting cookie booths this year. Booths are a big commitment, and their support means so much as fewer locations are able to participate. Check out the list below to find a booth near you, grab your favorite cookies, and show your appreciation for these local businesses that make it all possible!

If you’re crunched for time or want no part of getting out in this blustery weather (who could blame you) you can also order online HERE. Delivery is available for Upper Merion Township, and the Boroughs of Bridgeport and West Conshy.

Please Note: Many variables, including weather, can affect the operational times of the booths
